Heartburn is very common – and very unpleasant. Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a cheap and natural antacid that helps neutralize stomach acid. Baking soda drinks can help to stop a burning feeling in your stomach after eating food You may find that you no longer have a feeling of something stuck in your throat. Watch what you eat. Avoid specific foods that trigger your heartburn, but also watch out for peppermint, caffeine , sodas, chocolate , citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, onions, and high-fat foods. Eat more fiber to keep your digestive tract moving and healthy. Also, reduce your portion sizes Try eating five or six small meals a day, rather than three big ones. Summary: Excessive pressure inside the abdomen is one of the reasons for acid reflux. Losing belly fat might relieve some of your symptoms. Dr. Group recommends organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon in a little bit of water, to eliminate heartburn. This seems counterintuitive in that apple cider vinegar increases stomach acid to aid digestion before meals. But there are many testimonials claiming it works. There are lesser known symptoms other than heartburn for acid reflux as well: gas, bloating, flatulence and even apparently unrelated symptoms such as chronic dry coughing, sour or bitter mouth between meals, trouble swallowing, hoarseness, and wheezing.
Another option is to take a betaine hydrochloric supplement, which is available in health food stores without prescription. You’ll want to take as many as you need to get the slightest burning sensation and then decrease by one capsule. This will help your body go!! to better digest your food, and will also help kill the H. pylori bacteria. Drinking alcohol may increase the severity of acid reflux and heartburn. Some people find that sweets and high-glycemic index foods and meals that are too hot may trigger heartburn.
Lying down too soon after meals can induce heartburn. Instead of lying down or going to bed soon after eating, try to eat at least three to four hours before bedtime. If you want to try milk as a natural antacid for acid reflux, Dr. Khatri says you can try drinking a glass of fat-free skim milk as a snack between meals but don’t overdo it as overfilling your stomach may increase heartburn. I also ate a banana before taking the baking soda, and made myself some instant honey chamomile tea (great for calming my strep throat as well). Best of luck to you all out there.
